Taylor Swift Just Dropped The Poster And Release Date For Her Upcoming Netflix Documentary
Taylor Swift has officially released the first look at her upcoming Netflix documentary.
Taking to her multiple social media channels, the singer-songwriter shared the poster for the film, titled Miss Americana after her song "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince" from her hit album Lover.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Lana Wilson, the movie is set to open the Sundance Film Festival before appearing in select theatres and dropping on Netflix on January 31, 2019.
Although it has yet to be released, the film has been shrouded in intrigue and controversy since it was announced due to Swift's ongoing battle to purchase her back catalogue from music producer Scooter Braun.
In November 2019, the singer tweeted a plea regarding Braun ahead of the American Music Awards, where she'd intended to perform a medley of her hits throughout the decade, revealing the upcoming documentary in the process.
"Additionally—and this isn't the way I had planned on telling you this news—Netflix has created a documentary about my life for the past few years. Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project," she wrote.
"I feel very strongly that sharing what is happening to me could change the awareness level for other artists and potentially help them avoid a similar fate. The message being sent to me is very clear. Basically, be a good little girl and shut up. Or you'll be punished.
"I just want to be able to perform MY OWN music. That's it. I love you guys and I thought you should know what's been going on."
